Ankh-Theb Round 2 Proposal By Nich Grayson

Silt Rite
3GG
Sorcery
Green creature offering (You may cast this card any time you could cast an instant by sacrificing a green creature and paying the difference in mana costs between this and the sacrificed green creature. Mana cost includes color.)
Destroy target artifact, enchantment, or land.

The Queen’s Rite
5GG
Sorcery
Green creature offering (You may cast this card any time you could cast an instant by sacrificing a green creature and paying the difference in mana costs between this and the sacrificed green creature. Mana cost includes color.)
Put four 1/1 green Snake creature tokens onto the battlefield.

Unless we develop a strong tribal theme, I’d suggest changing the restriction on Offering this time around. I’ve suggested a multicolor component below, so my suggestion is to make it a creature color restriction. I like how Offering rewards playing Rebirth (see below). The trick with these will be to match Offering with sorceries so the flash part of the cost matters. At higher rarities you could see it on creatures too.

Temple to Kebo
3G
Enchantment – Aura
Enchant land
Enchanted land has “T: Add 4 to your mana pool.”

Land Auras as temples. This one would be totally out of left field, if not for Rebirth (see below again). The Land Aura subtheme is also why I bumped up Silt Rite from just a Naturalize to a Creeping Mold variant.

Kebo’s Stalwart
4GG
Creature – Crocodile Warrior
5/3
Shroud (This creature can’t be the target of spells or abilities.)
Rebirth 4 (When this creature dies, you may pay 4. if you do, return it to the battlefield under your control.)

Scarab Familiar
1G
Creature – Insect
1/1
When Scarab Familiar enters the battlefield, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.
Rebirth 4 (When this creature dies, you may pay 4. if you do, return it to the battlefield under your control.)

About shroud: Would it be okay to use it in a single set or block, like +1/+1 versus -1/-1 counters? Hexproof would not also be in the set.

About Rebirth: Think of it less as a Recover variant and more like Regeneration that can trigger ETB effects. I really wanted a grokable concept for regeneration without all the rules baggage. I decided on Rebirth 4 to keep it cost neutral with the rest of the card. Meaning you can still get creatures costed on the curve without worrying about ratching up to account for the power of Rebirth. And unless a player pursues rigorous mana ramping, they’ll only be able to pay one Rebirth cost at a time.

Upshani’s Attendant
1(b/g)(b/g)
Creature – Hound Cleric
2/2
When Upshani’s Attendant enters the battlefield, put a 0/1 black Thrull creature token onto the battlefield.
(b/g), T, Sacrifice a creature: Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.

I included a hybrid card because I was sensing a lot of enemy color interactions in the initial pitch. White and Black representing the priests of the Ra, Blue and Red to represent the court scribes and entertainers, Red and White to represent the armies of the Kingdom, Green and Blue representing the wilderness of the river, etc. I think also that the flavor of Ancient Egypt really fits the enemy color combos more than the ally combos.

About the Thrulls: Black Green would be the pair committed to creating the slaves that serve the Kingdom. I decided on Thrulls because they have a tradition as a service race in Magic already, but also because the slaves should be tiny. I can imagine Thrulls as 0/1’s quite easily.
