I like this mechanic, but I'm not sure it should put so much emphasis on leaving mana open for the right moment. While it might add skill to the game, it would do so in a brainy, stressful way.

I also don't see the transformation happening very often. Who would want to block or attack into a reincarnate creature when the opponent has mana open? They would just target it with removal while the opponent is tapped out. Unlike regenerate, where you're happy if the threat of regenerating keeps opponents from blocking or attacking, it would feel unsatisfying if you don't get to the night side very often.

I have a feeling it would feel more satisfying if it said:

Reincarnate <cost> (<cost>: Put ~ from your graveyard onto the battlefield transformed. Reincarnate as a sorcery.)

It could just have a high reincarnate cost to make sure it's balanced, similar to Golgari's Scavange costs. The night side could have "When this dies, exile it." to prevent infinite recursion.
