Mondombre - Treasure / Gold Counters

A major part of the dungeon-crawling experiencing is acquiring treasure, gold, and/or loot. Devon Rule's proposed mechanic of gold counters during the Great Designer Search 2 went over very well with the judges (and the audience, as you can see in Mondombre's case and the competing set Frontier's case). Gold counters seems like a nice fit for the "treasures" theme in the set. Also, Mondombre should have an increased amount of artifacts and Equipment to help with this theme. The gold counters mechanic can, however, be eliminated and may or may not be replaced by a better mechanic.

Mechanics or Ideas Representing Treasures

  • Gold counters. Example rules text template: "You gain a gold counter. (Gold counters can be spent as colorless mana or life payments.)"

Card Designs with Treasures / Gold Counters

Target player loses a gold counter and you gain a gold counter. (Gold counters can be spent as colorless mana or life payments.)
